Founder’s Message

Nand Kishore Ghurka - Founder and Director of the Group.

N.K.Ghurka is a first generation entrepreneur.

In 1979 he along with his wife Mrs Mr. NK Ghurka – alumni of “Indian Institute of Technology, Madras” started “Thermopads Pvt. Ltd.” from a small garage office in Hyderabad. Thermopads commenced manufacture of flexible heating systems which was an import substitute product and totally a new concept in India.

An enterprise that started with just two employees with a turnover of Rs. 1.2 lakhs in 1979 has now grown to more than 1000 employees with a turnover of about Rs. 1000 crores.

His focus is driving profitability through growth strategy and organization transformation. He played a prominent role that spans research and development of State-of-art technology while contributing to the technical review of external opportunities and mentoring other engineers.

He is the longest serving member on the Board. Additionally he serves on the Boards of Thermo Cables Ltd, Thermosystems Pvt Ltd, Thermo Polymers Pvt Ltd. In addition to serving Thermo Group Board of Directors, N K Ghurka serves on the Boards of Toshniwal Brothers (Hyd) Pvt Ltd and Aquarius Aerospace Services Ltd.

Prior to Thermo Group, Ghurka began his career as a Lead Project Manager with a Jodhpur based chemical company & established a “Calcium Carbonate” manufacturing plant with responsibility from inception to commissioning from 1972 to 1976.

N K Ghurka earned a Masters in Chemical Engineering from “Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay”

N K Ghurka also Managing Trustee, Sri Ram Charitable Trust. Mr. & Ms. Ghurka started the Trust in 1987 to take up projects in the fields of education, medical care and rural development.

Some of the major activities undertaken by the Trust are:

  • Kaluram Ghurka Vidyadayini Vidyalayam at Ghattuppal village, Nalgonda: The institution provides education in English Medium from Nursery to Xth class
  • It also supports a 100 bed non-profit Hospital at Jaisalmer. Mr. Ghurka was actively associated in setting up of this hospital. He was involved in complete procurement of the equipment. Interviewing and selecting of the Doctors was done at his office in Hyderabad. He ran this hospital as a CEO for 2 years with daily reporting.
  • Rural Development activities.
